Belize was the most photogenic country of this trip. So naturally I didn’t take advantage of it and instead headed straight for the island of Caye Caulker to eat lobster and snorkel for a few days…
Central Belize somewhere near Orange Walk Town.
One of the most fascinating things about Belize is the large presence of Mennonites (The man in the cowboy hat).
The sleepy dog olympics continues.
Everyone here speaks english and there is a very rasta vibe. Polar opposite of Mexico.
Off to Caye Caulker

The manager of the hotel kept me entertained for a while with our stick battle.

Guatemala ahead.
I arrive and meet the crew in Cancun for New years eve. This is the only photo I have of Cancun as new years was a messy blur, and Cancun sucks anyways.
Alex reviews shenanigans from the prior evening…
Kuzma Hogan and BK cure their hangovers with a boat ride over to Isla Mujeres
Operating heavy machinery while sleeping

Isla is better than Cancun.
We continue to have the best time.
Road trips around the Island.
The far end.
After a few days Tucker and I ditch our flight home and decide to keep it going.
We head south to Tulum
Visit the ruins

You haven’t lived until you’ve swam in a Cenote.
We continue south through the Sian Ka’an Biosphere into the small fishing village of Punta Allen to rest up for a few days.
It doesn’t get any sleepier than this.

Beans was our sidekick and aided in our coconut hunts quite frequently
Full of wildlife
“Put a bird on it”
We board a night bus to Bacalar.
The lagoon has seven different shades of blue, doesn’t get much deeper than eight feet and is completely still and perfect.

Self portrait
There may not be much to do in Bacalar but there is plenty of cheap Sol.

Constantly raided by pirates, a fort was built a few hundred years ago to help prevent attacks.

Finished with Mexico we hop on a bus in search of something different. Belize is next.
We arrive in Oaxaca by bus after a few short days in Mexico city.
Hogan likes Oaxaca.
The city is much more relaxed and touristic.
Beautiful churches.

We ride the bus to the ruins about an hour outside of the city.

Now off to the Yucatan!
Something has always drawn me to Mexico City. One of the biggest cities in the world, relatively untraveled, a mecca for food, and energetic beyond belief. Below are the things I saw the short time I spent exploring the streets.
Red eye flight from SFO
While everyone is sleeping.
View from the hotel.
Hogan landed at noon and instantly started showing off his grilling skills.
Not impressed.

If you like mayhem visit a market.

Sleepy dog makes a poop
Churches are one of the few sanctuaries from the busy streets.

Hopefully everyone driving is paying attention to the ladder.

The bus to Oaxaca – The next update
Sian Ka’an is a biosphere reserve in the Quintana Roo state of Mexico. It is massive and relatively undeveloped save a few small towns. Tucker and myself decided to charge the dirt roads to make it to Punta Allen. The original journey was through the night and can be read about in the journal ‘Chasing Maya’ these photographs are a series of traversing back to Tulum from Punta Allen in the day.
I almost ran over several crabs, a tarantula, and some odd slow moving birds.
Rented my bike from a guy with a russian wife hence the “krasivo” on the back of the bike.

Swim breaks on empty beaches.
